RHYME ROYAL — Artist Terms
Version 1.2
These Artist Terms (“Terms”) apply to everyone who uses Rhyme Royal to battle, upload verses, use beats, or take part in the platform (“you”). Rhyme Royal is operated by Giuseppe Di Salvatore, carrying on business as Lone Ones Music Group (“Rhyme Royal”, “we”, “us”).
By creating an account you agree to these Terms.
1. Your Account
You must be at least 13 years old to use Rhyme Royal. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use Rhyme Royal with a parent or guardian’s permission.
You are responsible for your account, your password, and everything done through your account. Tell us at support@rhymeroyal.com if you believe someone else is using it.
One person, one account. Creating additional accounts to influence votes or ratings is not allowed.
2. Your Verses
You keep ownership of the verses and recordings you upload. Uploading does not transfer your copyright to us.
You grant Rhyme Royal a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, stream, and display your uploads so the platform can function — including showing your verse in battles, on your profile, in feeds, and in promotional clips generated through Rhyme Royal features.
You confirm that you own or control the rights to what you upload, that it is your own performance, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.
We will not use your uploaded verses to train generative artificial intelligence or machine-learning models without your separate permission, and we do not sell your uploads as AI training data. This matches the commitment we make to our producers.
3. Beats — Important
Beats made available on Rhyme Royal are owned by the producers who supplied them. They are licensed to you only for use on Rhyme Royal.
You may:
- download a beat to record your verse for a Rhyme Royal battle;
- upload the finished verse to Rhyme Royal;
- share Rhyme Royal-generated promotional clips of your battle.
You may not:
- commercially release, distribute, sell, stream, or monetise a song using a producer’s beat outside Rhyme Royal;
- upload the beat, or your song using it, to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube (as a release), or any other distribution or streaming service;
- resell, re-license, or redistribute the beat itself;
- separate, isolate, extract, or reconstruct stems from a beat, or create remixes, edits, or derivative instrumentals from it;
- register a beat — or any battle, verse, or clip containing one — with Content ID, a digital fingerprinting service, a performing rights organisation, a distributor, or any other rights-management or monetisation system;
- use a beat to train, fine-tune, or generate output from an artificial intelligence or machine-learning model;
- claim ownership of the beat.
If you want to release a track using a producer’s beat, you must buy the appropriate licence directly from that producer. Most producers link their store from their Rhyme Royal producer page.
Producers may withdraw a beat from the catalogue, or disallow social clips containing it. We honour those settings. A withdrawn beat stops being available for new battles; battles already created with it may remain on the platform, and the restrictions in this section continue to apply to you.
These restrictions survive the closing of your account and the removal of a beat.
4. Producer Rights
The producers who supply beats to Rhyme Royal keep full ownership of their work, and the limits in Section 3 exist to protect them.
Producers are intended beneficiaries of Section 3. A producer whose beat you use in breach of these Terms may enforce that section against you directly, in their own name, as well as through us.
Where we receive a credible complaint that a beat has been misused, we may remove the content, restrict your account, and share the relevant information with the producer concerned so they can protect their rights.
5. Promoting Rhyme Royal
Rhyme Royal needs to show real battles to attract an audience. You give us permission to feature your battles, verses, clips, artist name, handle, profile picture, and voice in material promoting Rhyme Royal — including social posts, paid advertising, our website, app store listings, press coverage, and showreels.
This permission is non-exclusive, worldwide and royalty-free, and it exists so we can grow the platform you compete on. We credit you where it is practical to do so.
It is limited to promoting Rhyme Royal itself. It does not let us advertise someone else's product with your material, imply you endorse a third party, or sell your verses.
It does not include commercial release. We will not distribute your recordings to Spotify, Apple Music or any other streaming or download service under these Terms. If we ever want to release Rhyme Royal material commercially, we will ask you separately and agree terms with you and the producer first.
If you would rather not appear in promotion, email support@rhymeroyal.com and we will stop using your material in new campaigns. Advertising already placed may take a reasonable time to cycle out.
6. Battles, Votes & Royal Rating
Votes are cast by the community. You may not vote on your own battles.
You may not manipulate voting — including using additional accounts, bots, paid votes, vote-trading schemes, or coordinated brigading. Doing so may result in removed votes, reset ratings, or account termination.
Royal Rating is calculated by us and may be adjusted, recalculated, or reset if we detect manipulation or a scoring error. Ratings and rankings have no cash value.
Battles close on a timer, not when a competitor decides. Voting runs for a set period once both verses are in; if too few votes are cast the window extends once, and if it is still too thin the battle closes unrated — the result is shown but no Royal Rating or win/loss is recorded.
Direct Challenges. You may call out a specific MC once you have completed placement and they are within your challenge range. The challenger must upload a completed verse first and cannot withdraw it. The MC challenged has seven days to answer. If they do not, the battle is recorded as a loss by forfeit, which affects Royal Rating by a reduced amount and is marked as a forfeit rather than a community result. Forfeits do not count toward placement. The Open Arena has no range restriction — anyone may post an open battle and anyone may answer it.
Away Mode. You can mark yourself unavailable for a limited number of days each year, during which no new Direct Challenge can be issued against you. Away Mode does not pause, cancel, or alter a challenge that has already been issued, and it does not exempt you from the activity requirements for appearing on the Royal Rankings.
We may change the ranking system, formats, or rules as the platform develops.
7. Promotional Clips
Some features let you generate short branded clips of your battle for social media. These clips include Rhyme Royal branding and producer credit, and both must remain intact.
Clips are for promoting yourself, the battle, the producer, and Rhyme Royal. They do not give you any additional rights to the underlying beat, and they may not be distributed as a musical release or registered with any rights-management system.
Third-party platforms apply their own terms to anything you upload there.
8. Conduct
Rhyme Royal is a battle platform — sharp lyrics and disrespect between competitors are part of the artform. That is not a licence for everything.
Not allowed anywhere on the platform, including verses, lyrics, comments, chat, and profiles:
- threats of real violence, or content encouraging others to commit violence;
- sexual content involving minors, or any sexualisation of minors;
- harassment campaigns, doxxing, or publishing private information;
- hate speech targeting people based on protected characteristics;
- spam, scams, malware, or impersonation of another person;
- synthetic or AI-generated voices imitating a real person without that person’s consent;
- content that is illegal where you or we are located.
We may remove content, restrict features, or terminate accounts that break these rules. We may do so without notice where the situation warrants it.
9. Paid Features
Some features are paid, including Royal Pro and Founding Royal. Prices are shown before purchase.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time through the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Founding Royal is a one-time purchase and its status does not expire. Any Royal Pro access included with Founding Royal runs for the stated period and then ends unless you subscribe.
Paid features never affect how a battle is judged or scored. Money cannot buy votes, change Royal Rating calculations, expand your Direct Challenge range, or provide an advantage once a challenge has been issued. Royal Pro includes a larger annual allowance of Away Days — time you can mark yourself unavailable before any challenge is issued. Away Mode affects availability only; it cannot pause, cancel, or alter an existing challenge.
Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. If something goes wrong, contact support@rhymeroyal.com and we will look at it in good faith.
10. Your Responsibility for Claims
If a third party brings a claim against Rhyme Royal because of something you did — content you uploaded, rights you did not have, or use of a beat outside what Section 3 allows — you agree to cover the reasonable losses, damages, and costs that result from it.
We will let you know promptly about any such claim and give you a reasonable opportunity to be involved in resolving it.
This section does not apply to claims caused by our own fraud, gross negligence, or wilful misconduct, and nothing in it affects rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived under applicable law.
11. Removing Content & Closing Your Account
You may delete your battles and close your account at any time.
When you close your account we remove your profile from public view. Battles you took part in may remain visible where another artist participated, since deleting them would remove that person’s work and the votes cast by others. Where practical we will anonymise your side.
We may retain limited records where we are required to for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention reasons.
12. Copyright Complaints
If you believe content on Rhyme Royal infringes your copyright, contact support@rhymeroyal.com with a description of the work, the location of the content, and your contact details. We will review and remove infringing material where appropriate, and may terminate repeat infringers.
13. No Warranty & Limitation of Liability
Rhyme Royal is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular audience, exposure, or result will follow from using it.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or goodwill. Our total aggregate liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or twenty Canadian dollars (CAD $20).
The limitations in this section do not apply to your obligations under Section 10.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced on the platform, and continuing to use Rhyme Royal after they take effect means you accept them. Each version is archived so you can see what applied and when.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Disputes are subject to the courts of British Columbia, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
